Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating: Reliable Waterproof and Damp-Proof Solution

Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating is a high-quality, two-part, water-dispersed epoxy resin that offers excellent protection and an attractive finish for floors and walls. With its robust formulation, this epoxy floor coating can be used as a liquid damp-proof membrane (DPM), making it a versatile solution for various applications.

Designed for easy application via brush or roller, Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating creates a chemically bonded protective layer that’s resistant to oils and greases and can be cleaned with ease. This long-lasting coating is the go-to solution for ensuring protection and durability in areas that need it most.

Key Features

  • Water-Based Technology: Utilising a water-dispersed hardener and pigmented base resin, this epoxy coating is environmentally friendly and easy to work with.
  • Low Odour: Unlike many traditional epoxy coatings, Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating has a minimal smell, making it comfortable to apply and live with.
  • Resistant to Light Traffic: This coating is tough enough to withstand light foot and vehicular traffic, making it ideal for industrial settings.

Applications

Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating can be used in a variety of scenarios, including waterproofing concrete floors in warehouses, damp-proofing floors in kitchens and food processing areas, and as a damp-proof membrane for walls. It’s also suitable for light industrial factory areas and as a liquid DPM for concrete floors requiring a rising damp treatment.

The product should be applied in two coats. The second coat should be applied once the first coat has completely dried, typically within 18 to 24 hours.

Application

Application for Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating

Preparation

All contact surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and provide a “light” mechanical key. Remove all loose material, paint, plaster and oily deposits. For best results, grit blasting is recommended. Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating is applied in two coats. The texture of the substrate will have a bearing on the appearance of the surface finish. Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating can be applied as a moisture suppressant coating, where dampness may be expected.

Substrates should be free from surface water. However, where Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating is being used to provide a decorative finish it is important that it is applied to a dry substrate.

Application

Mixing

Successful application of Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating depends on thorough and complete mixing of the two components (Part A and Part B). Pre-mix each of the two components individually. The “Part A” component is supplied in a container which is large enough to receive the “Part B” component and act as the mixing vessel. Pour all of the “Part B” component into the “Part A” container and mix using a slow speed high torque drill with a Grout Stirrer. Mix for at least four minutes, scraping down sides occasionally to ensure complete mixing. Note that all mixed material must be used immediately and cannot be stored, as it will cure hard.

Application

Apply the mixed Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating in two coats. The use of a brush for the first coat is recommended. For the second coat the use of a brush or a short pile (natural or synthetic) roller is satisfactory. The second coat should

be applied as soon as the first coat has completely dried, typically 18 to 24 hours. Each coat should be applied as a thin continuous film. Ponding must be avoided as the thickness will entrap water and prevent proper curing. Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating should be applied at ambient and surface temperatures between 10 °C and 35 °C. For applications outside this range contact our technical department. The ambient relative humidity must be below 85 % at all times during the curing period. When working in enclosed areas it is important to create sufficient air flow to maintain the humidity below this value. It is recommended that substrates should not have a moisture content of more than 75 % RH. This can be assessed using a hair hygrometer covered with polythene for 24 hours as recommended by BS 8203.

Where Drybase ECS Epoxy Floor Coating is being used to provide a decorative surface it should be applied by skilled operatives familiar with the application of epoxy coatings to a high decorative standard. To ensure an even finish, special attention should be paid to:

  • Ensuring that the product is applied at an even layer thickness
  • Blending in of brushed and rollered areas
  • Checking that all product used is from the same batch
