Roxil Wood Protection Liquid
Roxil Wood Protection Liquid is a liquid water based silicone emulsion used to protect softwoods. The silicone waterproofs the surface and protects the wood from the undesirable effects of moisture, such as rot, decay, warping, and cracking.
A simple and easy two-coat spray or brush application of Roxil Wood Protection Liquid will protect your fences, furniture or decking for moisture penetration for 10 years. Unlike varnishes, oils and epoxies, Roxil Wood Protection Liquid does not change the colour or texture of the wood surface it is applied to.
10 Year Waterproofing Protection
2 coats of Roxil Wood Waterproofing Liquid provides water resistance to softwood timber. It has been subjected to 2000 hours of artificial weathering, twice as much as the BBA standard for ten years of real world weathering, and has been extensively tested.
Freshly clean with Roxil Wood and Patio Cleaner for the best results. Apply by brushing or spraying Roxil Wood Protection Liquid will protect your prized garden structures for the next decade.
Resist Warping
When rain lands unevenly on exposed wooden surfaces, the wetter ones take longer to dry and the drier areas shrink. This is why wood warps and curves in odd ways, especially on decks, benches, and sheds or office roofs where uniformity is essential.
To resist warping, uneven moisture absorption must be reduced by waterproofing an outdoor wooden structure with Roxil Wood Protection Liquid.
Environmentally-friendly Protection Against Mould
A non-biocidal, colourless and water-based silicone emulsion from Roxil has been developed to keep the natural look and appeal of real wood while protecting it from moisture absorption. Roxil Wood Protection Liquid is a less visible alternative to oils, varnishes and epoxies.
The Roxil Research and Development Team has tested the effectiveness of Roxil Wood Protection Liquid on a wide range of woods, including Oak, Pine, Douglas Fir, and Red Cedar.
With Roxil, you may allow the natural qualities of wood to shine through.
Application
Application for Roxil Wood Protection Liquid
Application Information
Roxil Wood Protection Liquid is recommended for use on softwood timber, including water susceptible species such as pine.
Preparation
All coatings should be completely removed and, if necessary, grey or deteriorated wood should be sanded down to provide a clean, sound surface.
The wood surface to be treated must be clean and dry before treatment can begin. It is recommended to use a cleaner such as Roxil Wood & Patio Cleaner to cleanse the wood surface before applying Roxil Wood Protection Liquid. Ensure all new wood is free of factory treatments and is freshly cleaned before application, this is particularly important for new wood in horizontal situations such as benches and decking where moulds can sometimes be seen, a biocidal wash such as Roxil Wood & Patio Cleaner should be used. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before applying Roxil Wood Protection Liquid.
Only apply Roxil Wood Protection Liquid when rain is not forecast for the next 24 hours. Roxil Wood Protection Liquid should not be applied to wet surfaces, or where it has rained in the last 24 hours.
Test Area
Roxil Wood Protection Liquid has been formulated as a colourless protection for use with absorbent wood such as softwood timber and weathered hardwoods. It is recommended to try a small test area before full application to determine compatibility.
If staining is required, better compatibility can be achieved by using Roxil Wood Protection Cream.
Application
Roxil Wood Protection Liquid should be applied in temperatures between 5 – 30 °C. Wear suitable protective clothing (including protective gloves).
Shake well before use. Apply by brushing or spraying. Two coats should be applied for optimum coverage, the second coat should be applied while the first coat is still wet, typically within 30 minutes.
Care should be taken to ensure Roxil Wood Protection Liquid does not splash onto glass, paintwork, plants, patios etc as removal of silicone resin splashes after drying can be very difficult. Any splashes should be wiped away immediately and cleaned with warm soapy water. If splashes are left to cure a silicone remover may be required.
After application the silicone will penetrate into the wood and form a water repellent barrier. Full water repellency will develop over a period of one month.
After use clean brushes or sprayer with soapy water.
Maintenance
The service life of Roxil Wood Protection Liquid can be enhanced by regular maintenance. On occasion it is expected that a small amount of organic growth may settle on the surface, this can be removed by gentle cleaning using Roxil Wood & Patio Cleaner.
