CM8 Cavity Drain Membrane: Durable Waterproofing Solution
The CM8 Cavity Drain Membrane is a premium 8mm studded membrane, available in both 500g or 700g densities, suitable for Type C waterproofing applications. It delivers a grade 3 environment in compliance with BS8102:2009 and NHBC Chapter 5.4. The CM8 HD700 is recommended when a heavier, denser membrane is necessary, as advised by the Wykamol Technical Department.

Substrate Preparation
- Concrete slabs must comply with BS 8204-1:2003+A1:2009 for new construction.
- Surfaces should be leveled with the help of Wykamol’s Universal Mortar.
- Walls suffering from mould or masonry fungi should be brushed clean and treated with Microtech Biocide before the membrane is installed.
- Dry rot in walls necessitates a detailed assessment before application.
Application
- The membrane is fixed using Wykamol CM Brick Plugs with the studs facing the wall.
- It’s recommended to apply Wykamol Microsealer to the concrete walls and slab, before applying CM8, to prevent lime efflorescence and dusting.
Finishing and Aftercare
- The membrane can be finished using a stud frame or dot and dab dry lining methods.
- CM8 Membrane may be overlaid with closed-cell insulation before laying T&G flooring or can be layered with a conventional 65mm of sand and cement screed.
- Normal decorating materials can be used as soon as the floor, screed or plaster finishes are dry.
